Day 1: Marrakech – Atlas Mountains – Taznakht – Foum Zguid – Erg Chegaga Desert Camel Trekking excursion
Your 2-day Marrakech to Chegaga desert tour begins with an early departure from Marrakech, heading towards the imposing Atlas Mountains. As you ascend through the Tizi n'Tichka pass, enjoy panoramic views of lush valleys, traditional Berber villages, and rugged mountain peaks. This scenic drive offers numerous opportunities to stop and capture the breathtaking landscapes. After crossing the High Atlas Mountains, we will continue our journey to the town of Taznakht, renowned for its vibrant carpets and traditional Berber weaving. Take a brief stop to explore the local markets . From Taznakht, the road takes you further south to Foum Zguid, a gateway to the Sahara Desert. Arriving at Foum Zguid, we will have deffirent experience with an off-road adventure across the rocky desert terrain. The excitement builds as you approach the expansive dunes of Erg Chegaga, one of the largest and most remote dune fields in Morocco. Upon reaching the desert camp, you will be greeted with traditional Berber hospitality and mint tea. Experience the magic of the Sahara with a camel trekking excursion into the heart of the dunes. The gentle sway of the camels and the serene desert environment create a truly memorable journey. As the sun sets, the dunes are bathed in a golden glow, providing a perfect backdrop for stunning photographs. Return to the desert camp for a traditional Moroccan dinner under the starry sky. Spend the night in a comfortable tent, falling asleep to the soothing sounds of the desert.
Day 2: Erg Chegaga Desert Trip – MHamid – Tagounite – Zagora – Draa valley- Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Wake up early on the second day to witness a spectacular sunrise over the Erg Chegaga dunes. The changing colors of the sky and the vast expanse of sand create a breathtaking scene. After breakfast at the camp, begin your journey back to Marrakech, with a day full of exploration and discovery. Your first stop is the village of Mhamid, located at the edge of the Sahara Desert. This small town is a starting point for many desert excursions and offers a glimpse into traditional desert life. Continue to Tagounite, a village known for its palm groves and serene atmosphere. From Tagounite, we will drive to Zagora, a town famous for its iconic "Timbuktu 52 days" sign, referencing the ancient trade route. Explore the local markets and enjoy a brief visit to the town's historic sites before continuing your journey through the picturesque Draa Valley. This lush valley, lined with palm trees and dotted with ancient kasbahs, offers a striking contrast to the surrounding desert landscape. As we drive along the Draa Valley, you will reach Ouarzazate, often called the "Gateway to the Sahara." Take a moment to explore this vibrant city, visiting the impressive Taourirt Kasbah and the local film studios, which have been the backdrop for many famous movies. After a short stop in Ouarzazate, begin your return journey to Marrakech. we will Traverse the High Atlas Mountains once again, enjoying the scenic drive and reflecting on the incredible experiences of the past two days. Arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon or early evening, concluding your 2-day desert tour.
